2017 John Adams Award: Craig Shannon
Craig Shannon
The John Adams Award recipient for 2017 is an experienced state and federal criminal defense practitioner. Although a relatively new panel member, the person we honor tonight is seemingly always available on a moment's notice for last minute appearances and willingly takes any case no matter the charge. The award recipient is a tireless advocate, armed with innovation and intelligence. This attorney's jury work is truly novel and unique. The 2017 honoree is a joy to work with, using humor and invention as both shield and sword. An excellent advocate for his clients, the John Adams award recipient is fearless -- once down on hands and knees before the jury box to emphasize the absurdity of "dog" evidence presented by the prosecution.
This lawyer is devoted to family and has spent countless hours working in the community above and beyond his legal work. A graduate of the University of Montana School of Law, with nearly 20 years of experience in defending highly complex criminal cases, including death penalty litigation, our 2017 honoree is considered an expert criminal defense lawyer.
For extraordinary CJA Panel Attorney service, the 2017 John Adams Award is presented to Craig K. Shannon of Missoula.
